Before we begin our predictions for Thursday’s game, a word about our recurring prediction series.

We like to have a lot of fun here at BC Interruption, and for anyone who isn’t a long-time reader of our site, that can sometimes look like we are being rude and irreverent no good reason. And that is simply not the case. We make fun of our opponents because it’s a fun thing to do, and because that’s just something that we do. We never mean it personally, we just do it in the name of rivalry and humor. But I understand that sometimes it doesn’t appear that way, and for that I’m sorry. I will try to do better to be nice to BC hockey’s opponents from now on.

Now then. To this week’s opponent!

Montreal Canadiens (5-1-2)

This Thursday night, the Boston College Eagles will play the Montreal Canadiens in what is sure to be an interesting matchup between two teams of differing levels of competition.

The Canadiens are off to a hot start this year despite trading beloved captain Max Pacioretty to the Vegas Golden Knights for prospects during the offseason. Brendan Gallagher’s emergence as the leader of the Habs has paid off, as he currently leads the team in goals. Despite being suspended during the preseason for sucker punching Aaron Ekblad, Max Domi has also emerged as a formidable foe for opponents, allotting eight points on the year.

It is still unclear how the two teams were allowed to schedule a game against each other, as this seems to be massively against NCAA rules, but they have in fact scheduled...

Hold on I’m getting a message from Laura.

I have been informed that logo is, in fact, the logo of St. Cloud State Huskies. I regret misinforming you.

You know reading this back it appears that this looks like a 300+ word troll.

*sigh*

Let’s just get to the preview

BREAKING DOWN THE GAME

  1. Ok seriously, what’s going on you guys?: BC is off to its first 0-3-0 start since World War II, which wouldn’t be so facially bad if the team hadn’t looked as poor as it has the past three games. Take the game against Quinnipiac. Corsi wise, the two teams were almost dead even, pretty much across every statistical category. However, the teams didn’t appear even. BC only put 43% of its shot attempts on net. As a method of comparison, St. Cloud State got 50% of its shots on net in its win against Northern Michigan. And from an eye test perspective, BC blew opportunities (Marc McLaughlin’s missed opportunity at the end of the second stands out as particularly troublesome). The Eagles need to shape up against a very formidable opponent in St. Cloud.
  2. St. Cloud is Really, Really Good: Speaking of Corsi, St. Cloud State is leading the country in Corsi For % with 66.9 %. I could go on and on and on about other ways that the Huskies are good, but you aren’t going to read it anyway. You’re probably going to just skim over it on the way to the comments section.
  3. I’m Sad: Everything is sad.

Random, Possibly Incorrect Fact from St. Cloud State’s Wikipedia Page

St. Cloud State runs an educational public radio station.

Alcoholic Beverage of the Game

It’s fall, which means it is cider season. Pick up a local Boston treat today.

Also, pumpkin spice is bad and will never have a place on hockey final thoughts. Ever.

Predictions:

Well, this season took a turn didn’t it? I don’t have a lot of confidence in BC being able to compete against a high-powered St. Cloud team.
