Boston College Football Recruiting 2019: Eagles Land Commitment From DT Ireland Burke

An in season commitment? Heck yeah!

Boston College is not a team that usually gets many in season commitments. But that is exactly what they got yesterday, when New Jersey DT Ireland Burke pledged to the Eagles on Twitter:

Burke, a 3* defensive tackle out of Pope John in New Jersey is a huge get for Steve Addazio and the Eagles. He claims offers from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Temple Owls, Maryland Terrapins, Minnesota Golden Gophers, Purdue Boilermakers, a bevy of MAC schools and UMass. He’s a New Jersey recruit so this is yet another Anthony Campanile recruit, and the fifth to come from the state.

The 280 pounder fills a big time need for the Eagles, as he is the lone defensive tackle in this class. Last year the Eagles landed Ryan Betro and Kyiev Bennermon who were both listed as defensive tackles. Strength at defensive tackle is definitely a need for this team, Ray Smith will be graduating, and Tanner Karafa will have one more year of eligibility.
