In a battle of two of the top three teams in the ACC, Boston College travelled to Cary, North Carolina to take on the Tar Heels. Unfortunately, a miscue by goalkeeper Alexis Bryant in the sixth minute led to a UNC goal, the eventual game winner.
The Eagles, led by sophomore Sam Coffey and junior Olivia Vaughn, each of whom had four shots, would unsuccessfully continue to push for an equalizer for the remainder of the game. One of Vaughn’s shots even hit the crossbar, just missing a first half goal. Bryant did play well for the remainder of the game, making a big save just after half to keep her team within striking distance.
BC would have one final look in the final minute, as a corner kick was cleared about twenty-five yards out, which is where Kayla Duran had a rip from, just going over the top of the net.
Despite the loss, the Eagles will look to take 1 of 2 from top ten teams this weekend as they head to Durham for a matchup with the #10 Blue Devils on Sunday.
