The Boston College volleyball team fell to Duke and Wake Forest on the road this weekend, dropping to 12-4 overall and 2-2 in the ACC. Despite this weekend’s setbacks, the Eagles are still playing leaps and bounds better than they did last season, and put up a fight against a pair of strong ACC schools.
The Eagles lost their first game of the weekend in straight sets to Duke, falling by scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-17. Freshman Jewel Strawberry, who has been showing more promise every game so far, led the Eagles with 10 kills against the Blue Devils. Makenzie Morrison, who has been having a standout season so far, led the game with 15 digs.
On Sunday, the Eagles fought hard but ultimately fell to Wake Forest 3-2. Wake won the first set 25-21, but BC tied things up with a 25-22 victory in the second. Wake then took a 2-1 lead with a 25-19 victory, before BC tied it up again with a 25-17 win in the fourth set. Unfortunately, Wake won a close fifth set by a score of 21-19 to take home the 3-2 overall victory. Makenzie Morrison led this game in digs as well, recording 26.
