Boston College Men’s Hockey vs Northern Michigan Preview

Wrapping up in Vegas

The Boston College men’s hockey team is back at it on Saturday night, wrapping up their portion of the Ice Vegas Tournament with a consolation game match-up with Northern Michigan. BC lost what can probably best be described as a frustrating game on Friday, falling 4-3 to Michigan Tech in a game where they spent far too much time in the penalty box. The Eagles are once again searching for their first win outside of Hockey East.

Northern Michigan is coming off a 7-3 loss to Arizona State and has been hovering around the .500 line for a while now. Joe Woll is still away, so look for another Ryan Edquist start in net.

ICE CREAM OF THE GAME

Many of our other previews feature a beverage of the game, but this year we’ll be picking an ice cream dessert of the game for MIH games. Why, you ask? Because when Jerry York got the BC coaching job, he went out for ice cream sundaes to celebrate.

I remain maybe the worst choice at all of BCI for this section, so we’re going to go right back to the Hudsonville Creamery. They’re actually located in Michigan so I don’t feel too bad. With that in mind, the Sleeping Bear Dunes Bear Hug looks incredible and has an amazing name so let’s roll with that.

CAT PREDICTIONS

Every game, we have the cats of the Ellen M. Gifford Cat Shelter (located right across from BC at 30 Undine Road) predict the outcome of the games. The Gifford Cat Shelter is the oldest cageless, no-kill shelter in the USA.

Laura remains in Vegas today so we’re going back to asking my sister’s neighbor’s cats. Coffee was way off yesterday and I wanted to give him a chance at redemption, so I asked for his pick specifically. He calmed down with the goal predictions and picked a 2-1 BC win. I’d like to thank Coffee for standing in this weekend and being such a good sport through all this.

HUMAN PREDICTIONS

Laura: BC 3- NMU 1

Grant: BC 3-NMU 0

Steven: BC 3- NMU 1

AJ: BC 2 - NMU 1

Arthur: 13

Every single one of us was wrong in our predictions yesterday so no math was done to update the standings. I remain locked in a tight race with the cats.
