Emily McCoy, a Boston College alumna, was announced as a member of the 2018 U.S. Women’s National Development Field Hockey Team this morning. The announcement comes following the 2018 U.S. Women’s National Team Trial, which comprised of 3 days of training and scrimmaging.

McCoy, who graduated last year, is 11th in BC program history with 84 career points (just behind her twin sister Eryn, who had 85). McCoy is tied for 10th in program history with 34 goals. She was also a member of the Development Team last season.

The National Development Squad is used to train recent college graduates for a future with the USWNT, as most of these players are too old to play U-21. The team will participate in a number of training camps before heading to Chile to play a number of games this May. Following the trip to Chile, the players will be reevaluated and may receive call-ups to the senior team.
