Final Score: Boston College 81, Florida State 75
Boston College put together a truly dominant performance tonight in Conte as they never trailed the Seminoles. A run at the end of the first half put the Eagles up 16 heading into the break, but a quick 5-0 run at the start of the second half gave them a 21 point lead, their largest of the game. Although FSU wouldn’t make it easy, eventually cutting the lead to four in the final minutes, BC was able to keep FSU at least an arm’s length away for most of the game. Every time FSU cut it to 12 or 13, Jerome Robinson or Ky Bowman would make a big play and the lead would go back to 15 or 16. In fact, for most of the second half, the lead buoyed between 12 and 16.
BC was able to win mostly because of their ability to withstand the pressure that the Seminoles applied. Ky Bowman and Nik Popovic became primary ball-handlers. Popovic was able to use his handle to take two or three dribbles, open up the defense, and make a responsible pass.
The crowd had Conte Forum rocking for most of the game, as the SuperFans were ecstatic about another upset with for the Eagles. It is clear to see that Conte Forum is a tough place to play for opposing teams, as the only loss the Eagles have on their home floor was to Clemson, a top-25 team, without any students in the building. With two games on the road against Louisville and Syracuse up next, the Eagles have an opportunity to improve to 5-3 in ACC play and solidify their standing as a top half ACC team.
