During the second intermission of the NHL Winter Classic at Citi Field, the U.S. Olympic Rosters were announced for the men’s and women’s hockey teams, along with the U.S. Paralympic team.

For the men’s team, team captain Brian Gionta was the sole Boston College Eagles alumnus represented on the roster. The 2018 men’s Olympic roster was severely hampered by the NHL’s decision to not send its players to the Olympics.

The women’s team, however, had far more Boston College representation. Defenders Emily Pfalzer, Megan Keller, Kali Flanagan and Cayla Barnes were selected to the Olympic team, along with forward Haley Skarupa.

Notably, Boston College alumnae Kelli Stack and Alex Carpenter were cut from the women’s roster. Carpenter was reportedly among the final cuts leaked to Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald.

The men’s team starts play on Feb. 14 against Slovenia at 7:10 AM. The women’s team starts play on Feb. 11 at 2:40 AM against Finland.
