After a 2-0 start to the season, the Boston College Men’s soccer team finds itself 2-3 after a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Quickly, with the schedule about to pick up, the Eagles find themselves in dangerous territory with a losing record and a daunting schedule ahead.
Notre Dame captain Jon Gallagher scored all three goals for the Irish as ND was able to overcome Beto Luna’s first career goal in the 82nd minute. Luna’s goal appeared to be too little, too late as it did nothing other than cut the 2-0 deficit in half after Gallagher scored the first two goals of the game. Two of his three goals came on free kicks that the Eagles had conceded less than ten yards outside of the penalty box.
On the bright side, the Eagles got good work out of Antonio Chavez Borelli in net, as he finished with a career high six saves in the loss.
The Eagles will return to the field on Friday, September 15, at number 3 Clemson, which should be a tough game.
