Boston College football released devastating injury news this evening on Twitter:
.@BCFootball injury report for Wake Forest game
— Jason Baum (@JasonBaumPR) September 7, 2017
OUT: Jon Baker (knee), Elijah Johnson (knee)
PROBABLE: Shane Leonard (upper body)
Baker, a Rimington Trophy Watch List Candidate is a massive loss for a Boston College offensive line that played poorly last week against the Northern Illinois Huskies. With his injury, his streak of starting games will also be halted at 25, a streak that went back to his sophomore year in 2014.
Who will replace Baker? Shane Leonard certainly is an option, reports out of camp was that he was playing center. The other option is freshman Alec Lindstrom, brother of tackle/guard Chris Lindstrom, who had his redshirt burned against NIU when Baker exited the game.
Whoever starts is probably going to be a step down from Baker, an anchor for the offensive line. This is certainly a scary development, and one that throws a major wrench into a line that needs to step up.
