Boston College Men’s Soccer Loses its Second Game in a Row

After starting the season 2-0, Boston College men’s soccer lost its second consecutive game to the Xavier Musketeers to fall to 2-2 on the season. The Eagles struck first in the 16th minute with a Simon Enstrom goal (his 3rd of the season) off of a Joshua Forbes center. Ten minutes later, Enstrom scored his fourth goal of the season which was built up from a long throw in, a centered head in my Tomas Gudmundsson, and finished nicely with an angled header.

In the 39th minute, Xavier was able to cut the deficit in half after sophomore goalkeeper Jack Bacon was able to save two successive Musketeer shots, but was unable to corral them. The second shot bounced right to an open offensive player who was able to take advantage of the open net.

The scoreline stayed 2-1 in favor of the Eagles until the 79th minute when the Musketeers drew even. A Xavier midfielder took a long shot which was deflected off of a forward’s foot and past Antonio Chavez Borelli. The score would remain 2-2 until overtime.

In the first overtime, neither team had any real chances. In the second overtime, however, Xavier’s right midfielder broke down the Eagle defense and got a quick shot past Borelli to lock up the win and send the Eagles another home loss.

The Eagles will take the field on Friday night against Notre Dame as they begin their ACC schedule.
