The Boston College volleyball team had another rough week of games last week, going 0-2 against Syracuse and Pittsburgh in the opening week of conference place. The Eagles are currently 3-9 on the season.

On Wednesday, the Eagles fell 3-1 to Syracuse in their first ACC matchup of the year. BC dropped the first set by a close score of 25-23 before tying things up with a 25-21 victory in the second set. The Eagles took a late 23-19 lead in the third set, but a 7-0 run for the Orange earned Syracuse the win. BC was unable to tie things back up, and fell to Syracuse in the 4th with another close 25-23 set. BC was led (as usual) by Lynn Braakhuis and Cat Balido. Both players had triple doubles, but their stellar play was not enough for the Eagles.

Cat Balido had another strong game in Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh, scoring 16.5 points and recording 15 kills for a double-double. Unfortunately for the Eagles, this was not enough to gain them victory. BC lost the first set by a score of 25-14, after allowing Pitt to go on an 8-1 run. The Eagles earned a slight victory in the second set thanks to a service ace from Jane DeJarld, but fell apart in set 3 and fell by a score of 25-12. The final set was another close match, with the score tied 22-22 late. However, Pittsburgh would go on to earn a 25-23 win and the 3-1 game victory.

The Eagles will look to break their 4 game losing streak on Friday as they head to North Carolina to face Wake Forest.
