After thunderstorms in the area caused a not insignificant rain delay for women’s soccer last night, Boston College and St. John’s played and exciting late-night game. Boston College ultimately came away with a 1-0 victory and improved to 6-3 on the season.
The game was scoreless for much of the match, despite Boston College outplaying St. John’s. The Eagles had 13 shots to St. John’s 7 and led with 10 corner kicks to 0. Despite some solid chances, BC was unable to convert until minute 84. With 6 minutes left in the game, Lauren Berman took a well-placed throw-in and turned it into the only goal of the match. This was Berman’s team-high 5th goal and 3rd game winning goal of the year.
BC’s win would not have been possible without another great outing from goaltender Alexis Bryant. Bryant stopped all 4 shots on goal that she faced, earning her 3rd shutout of the season.
The Eagles’ next game will open their ACC schedule - they face Louisville at 1 PM this Sunday over on Newton Campus.
