Despite being outshot 12-10, the Boston College women’s soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Boston University today. The Eagles improved to 5-3 overall after losing a tough game to Harvard earlier this week.
The Eagles and the Terriers both came out ready to compete, and only 1 goal was scored in the first half despite a combined 10 shots. Freshman Gianna Mitchell scored the lone goal of the half 18 minutes in off of a corner kick for her second goal of the season. The Eagles increased their lead to 2-0 early in the second thanks to a PK from Lauren Berman, and Carly Leipzig took a great pass from Berman to score the final goal of the game.
In addition to the goal scorers, Sam Coffey and Alexis Bryant were MVPs for the Eagles. Coffey earned assists on two of the goals and now has a team-leading 6 assists, while BC goalie Bryant stopped all of the shots she faced, including one major save off a corner kick header.
BC returns to action on Thursday to face St. John’s. The game can be watched online via ACC Network Extra.
