Stan Heath Leaves for NBA G League

New, 9 comments

The Orlando Magic announced today that Boston College Assistant Coach Stan Heath, has been hired to coach the G League Affiliate, the Lakeland Magic. For those that might not know, the G League is the NBA’s minor league that used to be called the D League.

Heath leaves BC after two seasons on the job. Heath’s arrival at BC two years ago came with a lot of excitement. At USF and Arkansas, Heath had built a reputation that while not a top level recruiter he was still someone that could grab a four star recruit every now and then. On top of that, Heath was known as a defensive specialist and someone that could turn the BC defense around. Heath had little to no success recruiting at BC and the team struggled to show significant development on the defensive end.

There are no rumors floating around yet on who might replace Heath. It’s unlikely that Christian will be able to replace him with someone that has a former head coaching pedigree like Heath did.

The Eagles are still trying to round out the roster before a trip to the Bahamas later this month. Illinois State transfer, Teddy Hawkins, is still very much in play especially after one of Hawkins’ choices, New Mexico, picked up a commitment from Ohio State transfer JaQuan Lyle this week.
