Nicole Cordero, a 4 year starter at UMass, has joined the Boston College field hockey team as an assistant coach. Cordero joins head coach Kelly Doton, assistant coach Mark Foster, and goalkeeping coach Carolyn Cahill on staff.
Cordero, who graduated from UMass in 2013, was the team’s offensive player of the year as a senior. After graduating, she returned to her home state of Illinois to take over field hockey head coaching duties at Oak Park Forest High School, where she also acted as an assistant women’s lacrosse coach. Cordero also spent a year with the National Collegiate Scouting Association, where she was the head field hockey recruiting coach.
Cordero will look to help BC improve on their 10-10 record from last season, which ended with a first round NCAA Tournament loss to #6 ranked UConn. The Eagles begin 2017 preseason play on August 18 with a scrimmage against UMass Lowell and begin the regular season on August 25 with a home game against Quinnipiac.
