The Basketball Tournament ended tonight as Overseas Elite took home the $2 million prize over Team Challenge ALS. Overseas Elite earned an 86-83 victory in the championship game, which was a back and forth match-up. Team Challenge ALS were a bit of a Cinderella story this year and defeated a number of higher ranked teams to get to the final, but ultimately couldn’t take down the top ranked Overseas Elite squad.
Despite the disappointing outcome, Team Challenge ALS succeeded in raising awareness about ALS. The team wore Pete Frates name on the backs of their jerseys in honor of the former BC baseball star. Team Challenge ALS includes former Eagle Sean Marshall and is supported by Matt Ryan.
Following the game, Overseas Elite announced their intention to donate a portion of their winnings to ALS organizations.
Fingers crossed that Team Challenge ALS can continue their winning streak all the way to the end in next year’s tournament!
You can help support the team’s mission by donating to the ALS Home Heath Initiative or any other ALS organization.
