As we continue our roundtable discussion, let’s take a look at the freshman. Unlike previous years Addazio may not need to lean on them as much, so whom amongst the pack may still stand out?
A.J. Black: It has to be A.J Dillon. The way that Addazio and the media has talked up the 4* recruit, you have to believe that he is going to be a part of this offense on Day One. A physical freak at 247 pounds, and quick he may open eyes early and that is going to be exciting for fans and teammates.
Matt: Although I said earlier in the week that AJ Dillon will have growing pains, he’s the most talented freshman on the roster and he’s in the best position to get a lot of playing time. I expect the highly touted recruit to be the workhorse by the end of the year.
Coach JF: Perhaps the easiest position to get on the field immediately is running back. It is instinctive and many freshman, never mind four star recruits, have stepped in early and contributed. AJ Dillon will get plenty of opportunities and my expectations are that ultimately he will minimally share and might eventually supplant Jon Hilliman as the feature back in the offense.
Joe P: Can it be anyone other than A.J. Dillon? Not only is he a rare talent, he's going to get the opportunity to show what he can do early, and run behind a now mature offensive line. If we're counting redshirt freshman, Kobay White could be another big play threat, but it's hard to see any freshman having more impact than Dillon.
Eric: I’d love to be a contrarian here but I have to go with Dillon. He is the only player that I’m certain will get playing time.
Who do you think will be freshman of the year on offense?
