Boston College Athletics released news today that many fans have been hoping for, the start of beer and wine sales at all Boston College football games:
"We're pleased to offer this expanded service to our fans," William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond said. "We believe this opportunity will enhance our game-day experience, and be a welcomed amenity for our guests."
Beer and wine had been available in the premium seats, but for the rest of the unwashed masses it hadn’t been an option for games. Hopefully offering this option will not only get more fans into the game, but get the people into the stadium earlier so they won’t be forced to get that last beer in before kickoff.
And what about those pesky neighbors that we have heard about in administrations past?
"A special thank you goes to our campus partners and officials from the City of Boston who worked with us to make this a reality," Jarmond added. "I appreciate the effort and support by many entities in recognizing the positive impact this can make on the fan experience."
The fact that Jarmond was able to do this without a lengthy hearing/legal process with the city (as far as I can tell) is a huge plus. It seems like he is going to push for what’s right for the university and for fans, isn’t that all we can ask for from an AD? In just a few months he’s starting to make things happen, and fans must be excited about this.
Football is right around the corner, and beer will be available opening game against Wake Forest. Stay thirsty my friends.
