Better Know an Eagle 2017: #84 TE Jake Burt

The TE missed all last year with a knee injury.

NCAA Football: Quick Lane Bowl-Boston College vs Maryland Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Jake Burt

Position: Tight End

Number: 84

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 250

Hometown: Lynnfield, Massachusetts

High School: St. Johns Prep

2016 Stats: Burt injured his knee last year, which prevented him from playing all season and in the Spring practices.

Projections: Burt is battling with Chris Garrison for the backup TE spot behind Tommy Sweeney. He will be used a lot in the heavy sets as a blocker. He’s near impossible to project though, since he’s been injured so much and only had one catch his freshman year.

Over/Under: 200 yards and a touchdown.

How’d He Get Here: A 3-star recruit, Burt had offers from Virginia, Brown, Harvard, Holy Cross, BC, and Old Dominion. BC and UVA were probably the best mix of academics and football, and BC had the advantage of being local.

You can see some of his highschool days below, where he displays good hands and balance as well as physicality as a blocker.
