Harold Landry Named to Nagurski Award Watchlist

The preseason accolades keep piling up for the senior.

Boston College announced that Harold Landry was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy preseason watch list today. The trophy is voted on by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), and the preseason watch list contains over 100 defensive players from all 10 conferences. Despite the huge number of players on the list, Landry is certainly among the cream of the crop. His competition for the award includes fellow ACC stars Tavarus McFadden and Derwin James, both from Florida State, and Houston’s Ed Oliver.

The award is named for former University of Minnesota player Bronko Nagurski, a two sport NCAA athlete and All-American on the gridiron. A monster defensively, the trophy that bears his name is aptly awarded by the FWAA to the best defensive player in the country. Past winners include Georgia’s Champ Bailey, Michigan’s Charles Woodson, Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh, and former Eagle Luke Kuechly. Last year, Jonathan Allen took home the award after racking up 10.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss.

The nomination is just another in a long line of accolades for Landry, who was recently named to team Maxwell and Bednarik Award watch lists.

Once again, congratulations to Harold!
