The New Jersey Devils have re-signed Brian Gibbons, who spent last season playing for the Albany Devils in the AHL. Gibbons signed a one year, two way contract worth $650,000. He will likely spent the majority of the season in the AHL, playing for the Binghamton Devils. (New Jersey’s AHL team is moving from Albany to Binghamton for the 2017-18 season.)
Gibbons is one of 6 former Eagles playing in the Devils organization. He is joined by Austin Cangelosi in the AHL, while Miles Wood, Steve Santini, and Cory Schneider all play in New Jersey. Brian Boyle will also be joining the New Jersey Devils for the 2017-18 season.
Gibbons has played 6 professional seasons, mostly in the AHL. From 2013-15 he saw significant time in the NHL, but has since remained in the minors. He scored a career high 16 regular season goals for Albany this past season. With his ability to score and his tough style of play, Gibbons should continue to be an AHL fan favorite in Binghamton.
