Better Know An Eagle: #19 Wide Receiver Ben Glines

Could this sophomore be a factor in the pass game in 2017?

NCAA Football: Maine at Boston College Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Ben Glines

Position: Wide Receiver

Number: 19

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 209

Hometown: Cincinnati, OH

High School: St. Xavier

2016 Stats: Glines played in 13 games last season in a variety of roles, and finished with 2 catches for 3 yards, both of which came against Louisville.

Projection: Glines has always been a tantalizing player for the Eagles. His freshman year he was the talk of the camp, before he went down with a season ending injury. He saw the field quite a bit last year but only hauled in two catches. He had another productive spring, and should be in the rotation this fall in terms of wide receivers. I’d expect he will be battling for time at the slot receiver. He has good hands, speed and size so he should be a real treat to watch on the field.

How’d He Get Here: A 3* wide receiver out of St. Xavier, a Boston College pipeline, Glines had claimed offers from Akron, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Daz on Glines; “We've really liked Benny Glines a lot, and Nolan. They're young and they're still learning, but you'll probably see a bit more of those guys.

Those guys are going to be really good football players, too. Everybody matures at a little different rate. I was having a conversation with, I forgot with whom, one of the things at our place here, we're -- I say this a lot -- we're a developmental place. We take guys in that, which is duly documented, that aren't five stars and all that.”
