This week, we’ve recapped the seasons of most BC hockey alumni, but a few still remain. Today we’re checking in on the former Eagles that spent this past season in the ECHL and/or SPHL. There are not many, but these players deserve a lot of support because you have to really love the game to stick around in the lower minor leagues.
Patch Alber (Adirondack Thunder)
2016-17 Season Grade: A-
Alber set a new career high this season with 39 points in 66 games, including a career high 36 assists. Alber also played in 6 playoff games, recording a goal and an assist for the Thunder.
Teddy Doherty (Manchester Monarchs)
2016-17 Season Grade: A-
Doherty spent mostly of the season with the Monarchs, but did play 2 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones and 1 with the Springfield Thunderbirds. Doherty led all Monarchs defensemen with 36 points, which included 8 goals. Doherty was strong on both defense and offense, and had an overall terrific rookie season.
Adam Gilmour (Quad City Mallards)
2016-17 Season Grade: C
Gilmour had a rough year. He played 52 games for the Iowa Wild but ended the season with the Mallards. He recorded only 10 points in 52 AHL games, but did better in the ECHL with 8 points in 11 games.
Travis Jeke (Various)
2016-17 Season Grade: N/A
Jeke bounced around a lot this past season. He scored 6 points in 14 games with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL. Jeke then played under 10 games with 4 different ECHL teams: Adirondack, Elmira, Toledo, and Reading.
Parker Milner (South Carolina Stingrays)
2016-17 Season Grade: B+
Milner spent most of the season in the ECHL but did play in 5 games for the Hershey Bears. He recorded 1 shutout for the Stingrays and recorded a .900 regular season save percentage and .919 post-season save percentage Milner had a .913 save percentage for the Bears.
Brad Barone (Mississippi River Kings)
2016-17 Season Grade: B+
Barone played in 37 regular season games for Mississippi and recorded a .913 save percentage and 2.73 GAA.
Brian Billett (Knoxville Ice Bears)
2016-17 Season Grade: B
Billett had a .909 save percentage in 35 games with Knoxville, allowing 3.06 goals per game on average. He had a stronger season in 2015-16, with a .921 save percentage, but did see one ECHL call-up this past year.
