The Boston College men’s tennis team lost to Miami, 4-1 in the first round in the ACC tournament. BC won third doubles as Hank Workman and Kent Mukai won 6-4, but first and second doubles went to the Hurricanes as they earned the doubles point.
On the singles side, BC’s lone bright spot was freshman Derek Austin’s victory in the number two spot, winning in three sets. Unfortunately, all other singles matches were won by Miami, which allowed them to come away with the 4-1 win.
Going forward, Austin will be a crucial member for the team as he attempts to build on an impressive freshman year. Key returners also include Mukai, Jeff Melvin, and Conor Mullins.
