Eagles in the Pros 2/27 - 3/5: Thatcher Demko Leads Utica to Victory With First Pro Shutout

Featuring great goaltending, 5 points for Alex Carpenter, and Patrick Eaves’ 23rd career goal.

A handful of Eagles started playing with new teams last week following the NHL trade deadline, including Patrick Eaves who now has a career high 23 goals this season. Other Eagles who played well last week include Thatcher Demko, Alex Carpenter, and Tommy Cross.

NHL

Cam Atkinson (Columbus Blue Jackets): Atkinson picked up 2 helpers last week, but no goals.

Brian Boyle (Toronto Maple Leafs): Boyle picked up an assist in his first game with the Maple Leafs.

Patrick Brown (Carolina Hurricanes): Brown played in 2 of Carolina’s 3 games last week.

Paul Carey (Washington Capitals): Carey played in 1 of Washington’s games last week.

Brian Dumoulin (Pittsburgh Penguins): Dumoulin assisted on the GWG in Pittsburgh’s win over Buffalo.

Patrick Eaves (Anaheim Ducks): Eaves continues to have the offensive year of his career. He scored a goal in both of Anaheim’s games last week and now has 23 this season. He scored an empty-netter against Toronto and this one timer against the Canucks.

Johnny Gaudreau (Calgary Flames): Gaudreau recorded 1 assist last week, setting up Sean Monahan’s goal against the Islanders.

Brian Gionta (Buffalo Sabres): Gionta recorded 2 goals and 2 assists last week, all of which came in Sabres losses. His most impressive goal came against Nashville from behind the net.

Stephen Gionta (New York Islanders): Gionta played in 1 of NY’s 3 games last week.

Noah Hanifin (Carolina Hurricanes): Hanifin scored a goal and recorded an assist in Carolina’s loss to Tampa. The slapshot was his 3rd goal of the season.

Jimmy Hayes (Boston Bruins): Hayes played in 2 of Boston’s 3 games last week.

Kevin Hayes (New York Rangers): Hayes had an unusual slow offensive week, recording 4 SOG and no points.

Chris Kreider (New York Rangers): Kreider scored the only Rangers goal in their 4-1 loss to Montreal.
