It was announced yesterday that 2 Boston College women’s lacrosse players are among the 50 women’s lacrosse players named to the 2017 Tewaaraton Award watch list. The award will honor the female college lacrosse player in the United States. Kenzie Kent is on the list for the second time in her career, while Sam Apuzzo makes the list for the first time.
Kent, who has yet to play for the lacrosse team this season because she’s still over at Conte Forum with the women’s hockey team, makes the list based on her terrific season last year. Kent played in only 9 games last season due to hockey, but recorded 18 goals and 17 assists in that time. She was an All-ACC second team selection last year. Kent will join the team sometime in March, upon the conclusion of the women’s hockey season.
Apuzzo, a sophomore, is having a breakout year. She leads the NCAA with 36 points and 16 assists, scored through 7 games. Apuzzo has 2 game-winning goals and has scored 4 hat tricks this season (2 of those hat tricks happened against BU, when she scored 6 goals).
The winner of the Tewaaraton Award will be announced on June 1, 2017.
