The Boston College women’s hockey team starts post-season play today at 2 PM as the Hockey East Tournament quarterfinals commence. The Eagles, who were Hockey East regular season champs, will face eighth place Merrimack in a best of 3 series.
The Eagles ended the regular season with a 23-5-5 record overall and a 17-4-3 record in Hockey East play. In their second season as a D1 team, Merrimack went 11-20-3 overall and 7-17 in Hockey East, an improvement over last year’s 3-18-3 Hockey East record.
The Warriors and the Eagles have faced each other 3 times already this season, with BC earning 3 wins. Merrimack didn’t make things easy for the Eagles though - the scores were 1-0, 3-1, and 4-1. Merrimack ended their season with a tie and a win against UVM, while the Eagles are coming off a win and a loss against Providence.
The Eagles and Warriors play Thursday, February 23 and Friday, February 24 at 2 PM. They will play at 8 PM on Sunday, February 26 if needed. All games will be played at Conte Forum and can be watched online.
The other Hockey East quarterfinals match-ups are: #2 Northeastern vs. #7 UConn, #3 Boston University vs. #6 UNH, and #4 Providence vs #5 Vermont. Maine, this year’s last place team, is done for the season.
