It’s the same old story week in and week out for BC women’s basketball. They play okay in the first half, maybe even building up a lead. Then they fall apart in the second. Yesterday’s game against NC State was no different.
This wasn’t a game BC was expected to win - NC State is ranked #15/18, while BC has only won a third of their games this season. Despite this, BC came out ready to play. They led by 11 points after the first quarter and went into the second half leading by 2. Ultimately BC would lose the game by 12 points and a final score of 70-58.
As usual, BC was led by Mariella Fasoula who had 20 points and 8 rebounds. Taylor Ortlepp, who has continued to improve offensively, scored 18 points. Kelly Hughes, meanwhile, was held to only 2 points in yesterday’s game.
BC out-rebounded the Wolfpack 35 to 28, but otherwise BC continued to make sloppy mistakes. Turnovers were a huge problem for BC against NC State, as they have been all season. The Eagles made 21 turnovers compared to NC State’s 10.
The Eagles return to action next Thursday to play Notre Dame. BC lost to Notre Dame 80-69 at Conte earlier this season.
