After opening the season with wins against Holy Cross and UMass, BC women’s lacrosse was handed their first defeat today. The Eagles opened ACC play on the road against #5 Syracuse and had trouble keeping up with the top-ranked team.
The Eagles scored 2 goals early in the game, thanks to Mary Kate O’Neill and Sam Apuzzo. After gaining an early lead, BC let Syracuse go on an 8-0 run before ending the first period on a 4-1 run of their own.
BC and Syracuse entered the second half with the Orange leading 9-5. Unfortunately for BC, Syracuse ran away with the game in the 2nd half. BC would score 4 more goals, but the Orange picked up 9 for a final score of 18-8.
After starting the season with a 3 game road trip, BC returns to the Heights on Wednesday, February 15. They will open their home season with a 1 PM game against the Boston University Terriers.
