I’m not sure anyone could have predicted the game so far. The Blue Devils walked into Conte forum cheered on by a sizable contingent of blue-clad fans. It went the Blue Devils way early, as coach Mike Krzyzewski fed big men Marvin Bagley II and Javin DeLaurier early. Duke dominated the inside game, grabbing 8 offensive rebounds in the first half and 28 points in the paint. For comparison, Boston College had just 8 points. Without Teddy Hawkins as an inside presence, it looked like the Eagles were going to stick around for a bit and then gradually lose control.
The Boston College caught fire. Jordan Chatman could not miss. Neither could Jerome Robinson. Even Nik Popovic hit a three. Halfway through the game, the Eagles are 11-16 from deep. Even better, the stupid turnovers have been kept to a minimum and the defensive intensity is off the charts (certainly thanks to the crowd).
Can the Eagles do the near-impossible?
