After 3 terrible losses in a row, Boston College women’s basketball picked up another win last night, defeating Holy Cross by a score of 70-61. BC is now 4-5 overall and 1-4 on the road.
The Eagles were outscored 16-13 in the first quarter, but stayed (slightly) dominant throughout the rest of the game to come back and earn a win. The Eagles were led on offense by sophomore Georgia Pineau’s 19 points and freshman Mimi Bolden-Morris’ 15 points (9 of which came from 3s). Sophomore Taylor Ortlepp added 14 points for BC, including shooting 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Pineau also led BC in rebound with 12.
Although they showed improvement on offense, shooting 48.9% overall and 53.9% in the second half, the Eagles still had some glaring weak points. BC had 18 turnovers in the game, allowing Holy Cross to score 23 points off of turnovers. Additionally, the Eagles had only 5 steals to Holy Cross’s 10 and 4 bench points to HC’s 12.
It was great to see the Eagles win, but this team still has a lot of work to do if they want any chance of winning some ACC games.
