After defeating Canada twice in the Four Nations Cup and going on to win that tournament, Team USA fell to the Canadians in Minnesota today. This was the second-to-last game of the Time is Now Tour, which serves as Olympic preparation for the top women’s hockey teams. All 6 Eagles on the team (Megan Keller, Alex Carpenter, Cayla Barnes, Emily Pfalzer, Kali Flanagan, and Haley Skarupa) dressed for today’s game.
After a scoreless first period, current Eagle Megan Keller scored on the power play (assisted by BC alum Carpenter) just a couple minutes into the second. Team USA held the 1-0 for most of the period, but BU alumna Marie-Philip Poulin tied things up with 2:08 remaining in the period.
Things remained knotted at 1 for the rest of regulation, and the game went into overtime to determine a winner. Unfortunately for the US, Maddie Rooney let up a soft goal in OT and Canada skated away with the win.
Team USA and Team Canada will meet again on December 15 for the final stop on this pre-Olympics tour.
