Preview and Predictions for Boston College Men’s Basketball vs. Central Connecticut State

NCAA Basketball: Duke at Boston College Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The 8-3 Eagles take the court in Conte tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 against the Blue Devils (not those Blue Devils) of Central Connecticut State.

Keys to the Game

This should be a theoretically easy one against the Northeast Conference CCSU, who is ranked 285th in offensive efficiency and 293rd in defensive efficiency. Still, the Eagles can’t afford to sleep on anyone as they will need every win they can muster if they entertain hopes of being a bubble team as the season progresses. BC needs to jump out to a faster start than they did in the first half against Columbia so that they can rest their starters and mix in some more minutes for players like Kraljevic, Reyes, Baker, and Wilson.

Despite a slow start, the Eagles outrebounded Columbia 45 to 30 earlier this week. They will need more of the same against this opponent, not allowing second chances on defense and taking advantage of fast break opportunities. They should have a size and athleticism advantage, which they need to exploit. They will need to stay hungry, not letting up and giving into the temptation to take it east against an inferior opponent.

Predictions

Katie: BC 83 – CCSU 68

Toppin: BC 89 - CCSU 60

Matt: BC 84- CCSU 65

Food and Non-alcoholic Beverage to Enjoy During the Game

Sure, Conte’s serving beer and wine now, but I think I’ll settle in with a classic cocoa. Nothing warms the heart like sipping a warm holiday beverage and watching the Eagles (hopefully) trounce an non-conference opponent. Cocoa pairs well with popcorn in my experience.
