Preview and Predictions for Boston College Men’s Basketball vs. Columbia

After the biggest win of the Jim Christian tenure, the Boston College Eagles will face the Columbia Lions tomorrow night at Conte.

Keys to Beating the Lions

The Eagles need to continue to do their thing. I think they found their winning recipe against Duke, which was to ride Ky Bowman and Jerome Robinson, get Jordan Chatman open shots, and not depend on the bigs too much. The bigs did a phenomenal job outrebounding and containing a loaded Blue Devil frontline. If Mitchell can continue to bring that type of energy and attitude to the floor, and Bowman and Robinson play the way they did, the Eagles have a chance to beat anyone. Of course, a major concern going forward is the lack of depth. Going really only six deep, the Eagles have no guards coming off the bench. The only perimeter player who came off the bench was Vin Baker Jr., who did a good job in his limited minutes, but brings almost nothing offensively. Look for Avery Wilson to potentially get some minutes going forward. He’s a big, strong guard who is good defensively and has potential to become a decent offensive player. If Baker, Wilson, and Luka Kraljevic can each provide 5-10 minutes off the bench, the Eagles will be much deeper and will be able to give Bowman, Robinson, and Chatman their much needed rest. Lastly, Bowman and Robinson need to do a better job of taking over games consistently. There was an argument to be made that BC had the best two players on the floor against Duke, a team with five potential first round picks. While both played with a chip on their shoulder because they weren’t recruited by Duke, they can have those performances against every team. With a backcourt like that, games like Hartford, Columbia, and Colgate shouldn’t be close.

Predictions:

Matt: 85-65 BC. I’d like to see them ride this momentum

Toppin: 83-78 BC comes out flat early after Duke, but the end result is the same

Katie: 80-73 BC

Food and Non-alcoholic Beverage to enjoy during the game

As finals week are upon us, I would say to do no more than go to the dining halls in between five hour sessions in the library. Grab a Screamin’ Eagle from Lower and combine it with a F’Real shake.
