Boston College is already fairing better against Virginia Tech than it did in last year's 49-0 beat down in Blacksburg, but the Eagles will be kicking themselves over some missed opportunities.
After a tipped ball by Zach Allen led to an Isaac Yiadom interception, the Eagles took over at the Hokie 26. From there, BC gained just four yards, and Colton Lichtenberg missed a 40-yard field goal attempt.
On Virginia Tech's next drive, the Hokies struck quickly, as Josh Jackson dropped a dime between two Eagle defenders, finding Sean Savoy for a 53-yard touchdown on a pretty post route.
The Eagles would get on the board on soon thereafter, though, as a few Hokie penalties helped the BC cause. First, a late hit out of bounds personal foul on Jon Hilliman turned a 20-yard catch and run into first down at the VT 36, then a pass interference call on Michael Walker moved the ball even closer, allowing Lichtenberg to get back on track with a 32-yard kick.
