The Boston College women’s hockey team is 2-0 on the season after two victories over Minnesota Duluth this weekend. The Eagles and the Bulldogs came into the weekend ranked third and fourth respectively. Today’s match ended in a 4-1 win for BC, thanks in no small part to freshman Daryl Watts.

Boston College fan favorite Kenzie Kent scored the first goal of today’s game, getting into position to deflect a teammate’s shot past the UMD goalie. The Eagle’s 1-0 lead would not last long, as the Bulldogs tied things up just 4 minutes later.

Watts scored her first career NCAA goal (and this game’s GWG) with a minute and a half to go in the first period, taking advantage of a power play rebound on an open net. The Eagles took a 2-1 lead into the second period.

Watts would score twice more (both times in the second period) to earn her hat trick. Her second goal snuck underneath the Bulldogs’ goalie to find its way over the goal line. She secured the hat trick thanks to a pass from Caitrin Lonergan:

We have a feeling that Watts is going to have 4 very productive years with BC WIH!
