This weekend, Boston College men’s hockey opens the 2017-18 regular season with a home game against Quinnipiac. The Eagles have struggled a bit against the Bobcats in recent years, finding it hard to beat the older, bigger team. This season’s BC team is projected to be an underdog, so a win against QU would be a great start to the year. BC and QU are currently both ranked in the top 15.
With Joe Woll’s strong goaltending and some big, tough defenders, BC has a chance if they can create offense. Younger players like Jacob Tortora, Graham McPhee, and David Cotton will need to immediately start scoring if BC wants to have a chance against the Bobcats and other top teams. Luckily, based off the exhibition game this Eagles team has more skill than many people are giving them credit for.

Ice Cream of the Game
Many of our other previews feature a beverage of the game, but this year we’ll be picking an ice cream dessert of the game for MIH games. Why, you ask? Because when Jerry York got the BC coaching job, he went out for ice cream sundaes to celebrate.
Connecticut’s state dessert is ice cream, and their state cookie is the snickerdoodle. So to celebrate a BC win or comfort yourself after a BC loss, we’d suggest a snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich.
Cat Predictions
Every game, we have the cats of the Ellen M. Gifford Cat Shelter (located right across from BC at 30 Undine Road) predict the outcome of the games. The Gifford Cat Shelter is the oldest cageless, no-kill shelter in the USA.
This week, Traveller went with his fellow felines and is predicting a 4-1 QU win.
