Boston College Volleyball Ends October With Thrilling Win Over Virginia Tech

This was BC’s 3rd ACC win of the season

Boston College will end October on a high note thanks to an exciting 3-1 victory over Virginia Tech over the weekend. The Eagles struggled in their first game of the week, against Virginia, before coming back to earn their third ACC win of the season.

On Friday, the Eagles started strong and won the first set against Virginia by a score of 25-21. Unfortunately for BC, Virginia would go on to win the next 3 sets, taking the victory. Despite the loss, the Eagles had some strong individual performances in Friday’s game. Lynn Braakhuis continues to be dominant, and she led the match with 11 kills. Jill Strockis led the match and set a season record with 28 digs.

Things turned around for the Eagles against Virginia Tech, despite losing the first set. The Eagles dropped the first set by a score of 25-18 after allowing VT to go on a 6-0 run. BC earned a dominant 25-14 win in the second set, thanks to a 9-1 run started by Jane DeJarld. BC earned a 25-19 victory in a back-and-forth third set before coming from behind to earn a 25-23 win in the fourth and final set. McKenna Goss (14 kills and 14 digs), Lynn Braakhuis (12 kills and 15 digs), and Jane DeJarld (37 assists and 11 digs) all recorded double-doubles in the match.

BC returns to action on November 3rd, when they will face UNC.
