After a strong 5-2 showing against Canada over the weekend, Team USA struggled to keep up on home turf tonight. Team USA scored a single goal in a 5-1 loss to the Canadians at Agganis Arena, giving up too many goals on odd man rushes while being unable to score on Canada’s Geneviève Lacasse.

Team USA dominated in possession time, but defensive breakdown led to a number of great scoring chances for Canada and Lacasse’s stellar play kept the US goals to a minimum. Team USA’s only goal came from BC’s own Emily Pfalzer, whose terrific individual effort resulted in a goal off of her own rebound. Pfalzer was chosen as Team USA’s player of the game. Her goal tied things at 1-1 in the first period, but 4 unanswered goals led Canada to victory.

Team USA returns to action on Tuesday, November 7 when they will face Finland in the Four Nations Cup. One day later, they will get another chance at Canada in the same tournament.
