The one bummer moment in last night’s MIH win over Providence College was the loss of David Cotton late in the second period. Cotton, who was expected to be one of the top offensive players for BC this season, left the bench after a hit near the boards.
As our writers that were at the game last night guessed, it is being reported that Cotton left due to a possible concussion and is going through concussion protocol.
BC has been getting goals from a variety of players so far this season (Graham McPhee, defenseman Casey Fitzgerald, and freshman Christopher Grando lead with two goals each), so this is not the devastating blow we might have expected it to be, but it certainly is not great.
Cotton seemed to be pretty with it upon leaving the ice, so hopefully (for his sake and for the team’s sake) this is either just a precautionary measure or a very minor concussion and he will be able to return for one, if not both, of this weekend’s games against St. Cloud State.
