The Boston College field hockey team improved to 11-0 in non-conference play on Sunday with an overtime win against BU. The game ended with a 3-2 victory for the Eagles. BU outshot the Eagles, but BC had more quality chances in the game.
Alesandra Miller opened the scoring just 3 minutes into the game to give BC a 1-0 lead. BU tied things up with a goal that tipped itself in off the goalie, but Lucy Lytle scored her fifth goal of the season to put BC up 2-1 with 2 minutes left in the first half.
The Eagles held the lead until the 63rd minute, when BU’s Kathryn Scheerer converted a penalty corner into a goal, sending the game into overtime knotted at 2-2. Three minutes into overtime, Fusine Govaert scored her team high sixth goal to earn BC the win.
BC has 2 remaining games this season. This weekend, they will face Wake Forest. The Wake game is a big one, because if the Eagles win they will avoid going winless in the ACC. They will then close out the season at UConn.
