The NHL announced today that Cam Atkinson has been added to the Metropolitan roster for this weekend’s NHL All Star Game. Atkinson will replace Evgeni Malkin, who will miss tonight’s Penguins game against the Bruins and All Star weekend with an injury. Atkinson will join fellow Blue Jackets Seth Jones and Sergei Bobrovsky.

Many fans (BCI included) felt that not including Atkinson on the original All Star rosters was one of this year’s biggest snubs. He’s having a stellar season with a hot Blue Jackets team. Atkinson has 24 goals so far this season and is tied for second in the NHL, behind only Sidney Crosby. His 46 points also put him in the NHL top 10.

Atkinson is one of two former Eagles that will be playing in this year’s All Star Game - Johnny Gaudreau will also be there representing the Calgary Flames.

The 2017 All Star Game will be played on Sunday, January 29, at 3:30 p.m. The event will air on NBC.
