The fall of 2016 proved to be an enormously successful season for the BC Women’s Rugby team. Despite tough competition in the D1 bracket, the Eagles were able to dominate.

The season started off with a series of wins against UMass, Northeastern, and URI. In each of these matches, BC won by at least 50 points. Following these wins, BC faced local rival BU and posted a win of 119-7. The first loss of the season came in a close game with UConn, 15-7. Following a strong start to the season, BC was able to make the playoffs.

BC’s first opponent in the playoffs was Northeastern. The Eagles beat the Huskies by a score of 66-12. In the next round BC met UConn. BC earned redemption for their loss earlier in the season, coming away with a 17-10 victory. With this win, BC became one of the top 8 D1 teams in the nation.

Continuing in the playoffs, BC faced Northern Iowa U, who they handily defeated 79-26, earning a spot in the top 4 D1 teams. Following this win, they went on to play UConn again. It was hard fought battle, but BC lost to UConn by a score of 7-14. Despite the loss, BC finished the season as #14 amongst D1 colleges.

Congratulations to BC Women’s Rugby for an incredibly successful season - we’re already looking forward to what comes next.
