The NWHL finalized their 2017 All-Star Game rosters today, with captains Amanda Kessel and Kelley Steadman choosing players to fill out their teams. Beyond the captains, 6 other players had already been assigned to rosters - 4 by fan voters and 2 by the media. No BC players were selected in either vote.
The former Eagles that will play in the 2017 NWHL All-Star Game are: Kelli Stack, Alex Carpenter, Blake Bolden, Haley Skarupa, Dana Trivigno, and Emily Pfalzer. 4 Eagles join Team Steadman and 2 will play on Team Kessel.
Kelli Stack was chosen first in the All-Star “draft” and will play on Team Kessel. Stack is tied for 2nd in the NWHL with 5 goals and she has been an important leader for the Connecticut Whale.
Alex Carpenter was picked 4th overall by Team Steadman. Carpenter, a rookie on the Boston Pride, is tied for 2nd in the NWHL with 11 points and 5 goals. She is 5th in the league with 6 assists. Carp leads the Pride in points and assists.
Blake Bolden was selected 6th and was the first defender selected by Team Steadman. Bolden’s steady defense has been invaluable for the Pride as they continue to dominate the league. Bolden is also capable of setting up some great offensive plays, as seen by her 4 assists and 1 goal so far this year.
Haley Skarupa will rejoin her former linemate Alex Carpenter for a day - she was added to Team Steadman with the 8th overall pick. Skarupa has had a stellar rookie season for the CT Whale, recording 10 points with 5 goals and 5 assists. Her 5 goal total includes a hat trick scored in mid-October.
Dana Trivigno was added to Team Kessel with pick number 11. Trivigno has 3 goals and 2 assists so far this season and continues to play the fun, tough style of hockey that BC fans loved her for.
Emily Pfalzer joined Team Steadman with the 12th overall pick. Pfalzer, the two-year captain of the Buffalo Beauts, captained one of the All-Star teams in the inaugural game last year. She has a goal and 4 assists this season and continues to exhibit strong defensive skills on a struggling Buffalo team.
The 2017 NWHL All-Star Game will be played at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, PA on February 12.
