The Boston College women's soccer team defeated Harvard on Wednesday night, stretching their winning streak to 5 games. The Eagles beat Harvard by a score of 3-0 and improved their record to 6-0-1.
As they have for much of the season, BC dominated the game. The Eagles registered 9 shots on goal to Harvard's 4 and forced Harvard's goalie to make some tricky saves,
BC scored their first goal 27 minutes into the match. McKenzie Meehan got 1 point closer to breaking the team's all time points record with her 6th goal of the season. Meehan's goal, a cross to the left of the goalie, was assisted by Lauren Berman. This was Meehan's 17th game winning goal, setting a program record.
Olivia Vaughn put BC up 2-0 just 2 minutes later. It was Vaughn's 2nd goal of the season and Madison Kenny assisted for her 1st point of the year. Kenny got the ball over the Harvard defenders for Vaughn to take a shot.
The Eagles had some good chances but didn't score again until 64:30. Lauren Berman chested a pass from Hayley Dowd into the net for a final score of 3-0.
Goalie Alexis Bryant picked up her 3rd shutout of the season, thanks in part to stopping a Harvard penalty shot near the end of the game.
Lauren Berman led the Eagles in scoring with 1 goal and 1 assist. Berman also registered 4 shots in the first 10 minutes of the game and ended the game with a team-leading 6 shots.
After 3 home games, the Eagles go on the road again on Sunday (sort of). They will take on Northeastern at 1 PM in Boston.
