With the first game of the season in the books, we introduce a new segment on BC Interruption. We look back on gameday though the tweets by fans, media and even former B.C. football players.
Today’s installment looks back at today’s game in Dublin, Ireland, against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, BC’s first game of the season. The Eagles fell to the Yellow Jackets 17-14 at Aviva Stadium, falling to 0-1 on the season, continuing a now nine game schneid dating back to the 2015 season. The Eagles are also on a nine game losing streak in-conference dating back to the 2015 season. The Eagles last won a game in-conference on Nov. 29, 2014 at home against Syracuse. The Eagles finished 4-4 in conference during that season.

With size and speed, Patrick Towles is a talent
— WZBC Sports (@WZBCSports) September 3, 2016
. #BConWZBC
Patrick Towles looking very good with his feet early in this game.
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
Patrick Towles' first official pass is intercepted. Tipped by Tommy Sweeney.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
That is on Tommy Sweeney, he should have caught that.
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
The good news is that we crossed midfield on the first offensive possession.
— Jeff Martyn (@BCIntJeff) September 3, 2016
Mm that's the BC I remember
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
You know, I was about to say that that was a good opening drive.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
I still think the ACC hosting a football game in Ireland is some kind of tax dodge.
— Vico (@ourhonordefend) September 3, 2016
RON CHERRY BE STILL MY HEART
— A.J. Black (@BCHysteria) September 3, 2016
Connor Strachan is a bad bad man.
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
That defense still looking right!
— Justin Simmons (@jsimms1119) September 3, 2016
Thought GT would get 1st down easy there if they ran to the line on 4th and ran a quick play there
— ERIC HOFFSES (@EAHoffses) September 3, 2016
Hey maybe stop giving up deep pass plays to a freaking triple option team.
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
Coastal 7, Atlantic 0
— Ben Swain (@TheBenSwain) September 3, 2016
That wasn't ideal.
— Mike Giblin (@HoyaEagle) September 3, 2016
Sample dialogue from this gathering I’m at:
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
“Dude this could be a bad one…”
“Talking about the game or season?”
“Yes.”

— College Football IRE (@cfbireland) September 3, 2016
Three-and-out for the Eagles on their second drive. Hampered by an illegal formation penalty.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
We still haven't completed a pass, yes?
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
BC still hasn't completed a pass this game.
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
END Q1: Georgia Tech 7, BC 0. Offense looked good early, yet struggled after the Towles pick. Secondary burned on deep balls.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
We're sorry, Ireland. There actually are some football teams that are fun and good.
— Joe O'Grav (@joegrav) September 3, 2016
They had six yards in the first quarter. https://t.co/U0qfDQVpNq
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
Towles completes his first pass, a 17 yard gain to Charlie Callinan.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
OH MY GOD BC COMPLETED A PASS
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
What is this pass on first down thing?
— Mike Giblin (@HoyaEagle) September 3, 2016
BC getting very fortunate with the calls so far; the refs have missed several Passing On First Down penalties on the Eagles this drive alone
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
Towles to Smith for a first down to the 28! #GTvsBC
— BC Football (@BCFootball) September 3, 2016
I greatly prefer Jeff Smith the wide receiver so far.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
I’m somewhere between wanting to kick here and being scared to do so.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Solid drive through the air for Towles and Smith ends with a Colton Lichtenberg field goal that gets blocked.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
OH COME ON
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Oh yes the only thing this season was missing was a missed field goal. Here we go.
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
When exactly is Daz going to learn to NOT TRY TO KICK FIELD GOALS
— Joe O'Grav (@joegrav) September 3, 2016
Well, Boston College had a ball land in the end zone. Granted it was on a blocked field goal. But that’s still progress.
— Barrett Sallee (@BarrettSallee) September 3, 2016
How early is this game? It’s “sue the drug company” commercial early.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
It's 8:22 and BC's offense is still trailing my breakfast taco consumption in points, but this is a marathon not a sprint.
— Austin Tedesco (@Tedescau) September 3, 2016
What a stick by Ty Schwab
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
That was a much improved return from Sherman Alston last year. Then again, it wasn’t a fair catch or muff, so.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
I'm also liking Tyler Rouse as the punt returner. If he keeps this up, that'll be a valuable dynamic that BC didn't have last season.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
Alright, good stop; let's put together a good drive.
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
/Schedules tweet to repost every 5 minutes
Has BC thrown out of I-Formation at all?
— ERIC HOFFSES (@EAHoffses) September 3, 2016
Punt from the 39 works beautifully, as BC downs it at the one.
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
Oh wow Mike Knoll did a thing.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Knoll: Rebirth
— Connor Mellas (@ConnorMellas) September 3, 2016
War Daddy.
— Mike Giblin (@HoyaEagle) September 3, 2016
Gutapfel picking up right where he left off in camp. Really impressive today
— ERIC HOFFSES (@EAHoffses) September 3, 2016
Funny how you keep the D on its toes when you run out of shotgun once in a while
— ERIC HOFFSES (@EAHoffses) September 3, 2016
We are going to miss a FG with enough time left to let Georgia Tech add points before halftime, aren't we
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
Ok, pool time. How will BC blow this good field position?
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Towles gets it knocked out of his hands by Antonio Simmons. Georgia Tech takes over.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
Well, if you had “stripped interception” in that pool, you win.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Oh my god.
— A.J. Black (@BCHysteria) September 3, 2016
I should have stayed in bed.
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
BC Trails Georgia Tech 7-0 At Half As Offense Sputters https://t.co/3X43c6iZ5N
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
lol the over/under was 44
— Joe O'Grav (@joegrav) September 3, 2016
BC actually gained more yards than Georgia Tech in the first half. 107-90. It's a barnburner in Dublin, folks.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
I once read that BC was known for its hard liquor consumption. After watching BC football for three years I understand why.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
BC band playing patriotic Irish songs presumably to apologize to the crowd for the football they had to watch

— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
Do not run at Matthew Milano. Matthew Milano does not like it when you run on him. BC gets it back at its 27.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
BC did a thing on offense!!!
— Kevin McGuire (@KevinOnCFB) September 3, 2016
JON FREAKING HILLIMAN
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
OMG WE MADE AN EXTRA POINTTTTT
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
Of course we score and now Georgia Tech starts to move the ball.
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
The Eagles force a fumble and recovers! We are going the other way! #BConWZBC
— WZBC Sports (@WZBCSports) September 3, 2016
John Johnson good lord
— ERIC HOFFSES (@EAHoffses) September 3, 2016
Very very nice pitch and catch right there by Towles and Walker. BC is in the red zone.
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
Walker slips short of the first down. BC going for it on 4th-and-1.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
Aaaand then Addazio calls a timeout.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
Addazio opts instead for the field goal. Lichtenberg misses it. Again.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
OH COME ON. CAN ANYONE ON THIS STUPID TEAM MAKE A FREAKING KICK
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Addazio makes football decisions like this game is being played in 1975
— ERIC HOFFSES (@EAHoffses) September 3, 2016
Field. Goal. Kicking.
— Mike Giblin (@HoyaEagle) September 3, 2016
Still. An. Issue.
That wasn't even close. You have a good running game and offensive line on 4th and 1, and a terrible kicker, and you don't go for it. K.
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
2:38ish Dublin time, 9/3/16 - the first time I went apoplectic this season
— Joe O'Grav (@joegrav) September 3, 2016
END 3: Boston College 7, Georgia Tech 7. Jonathan Hilliman is a big man with his touchdown, but Lichtenberg missed a second FG.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
BC needs all of the kickers to turn in their jerseys Rudy style so BC never, ever, ever thinks about kicking the football. Ever.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Or we need Steve Aponovicious 2.0 to come out of the stands in Dublin. https://t.co/ckaZVWAqXP
— Mike Giblin (@HoyaEagle) September 3, 2016
Ladies and gentlemen, the Eagles have a quarterback.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
TOUCHDOWN EAGLES! PATRICK TOWLES!!
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
That, ladies and gentlemen, was a damn good drive.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
Harrison Butker hits a 40-yard field goal to make it a 14-10 BC lead. 5:57 left in the game. #GTvsBC
— BC Football (@BCFootball) September 3, 2016
It must be nice to have a kicker who can make field goals.
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
Well, THEIR kicker made it
— Joe Micik (@JoeMicik) September 3, 2016
The dazzler cannot manage timeouts
— Jeff Martyn (@BCIntJeff) September 3, 2016
Georgia Tech will have it at its 42-yard line, 3:33 remaining.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
If we blow this game, Addazio should have to swim back.
— Bill Maloney (@bcatleagle) September 3, 2016
Kevin Kavalec, also a bad man.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
So is Matt Milano. Again.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
ALRIGHT LET'S DO THIS
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016
Prevent D prevents winning
— Jeff Martyn (@BCIntJeff) September 3, 2016
It never is easy, is it Eagles fans?
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
Another HUGE secondary breakdown for BC. Georgia Tech has it at the BC 20 yard line.
— Michael Sullivan (@MichaelJSully) September 3, 2016
oh boy
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
A reminder that if BC had a competent kicker Ga. Tech would be playing for overtime right now.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
This is going to take years off my life
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
There it is. #barf
— BC O'Interruption (@bcinterruption) September 3, 2016
This is all on you Addazio.
— A.J. Black (@BCHysteria) September 3, 2016
Having more than one time out would sure help down three with :35 left. Unreal. Finding ways to lose.
— Tom Leyden (@TomLeyden) September 3, 2016
BC being BC.
— Tom Caron (@TomCaron) September 3, 2016
Let’s be honest. If you weren’t expecting this, you were kidding yourself.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
It was almost like BC went up by a touchdown and then just decided they had no idea what to do. Been a total disaster since going up 7.
— Adam M (@adamar108) September 3, 2016

We’re laughing because it hurts too much to cry.
— Artie O'Bailin (@arthurbailin) September 3, 2016
Ryan Day, Todd Fitch, Scot Loeffler. All caused the butt clenching end of game/half decisions right?
