Grading the Boston College Football Performance: Wagner Edition

With the FCS cupcake over, and the Eagles winning easily, let’s see what you the fans thought of each units performance. Do to this, we’ll lay out the stats, and give you a poll, in which you can vote.

Quarterbacks

Patrick Towles threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 46 yards and scoring on two more. Darius Wade entered in the fourth quarter and went an economical ³⁄₄ for 33 yards, his only missed pass was on a drop.

Running Backs

Jonathan Hilliman ran the ball 19 times for 92 yards, including 9 rushes for loss of yards. Davon Jones ran it 12 times for 90 yards. Richard Wilson came in for mop up duty running the ball 11 times for 66 yards.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

Jeff Smith and Michael Walker both had long receiving touchdowns. Tommy Sweeney and Chris Garrison both had nice catches, but only had one grab each. Colton Cardinal, a backup tight end also had two grabs for this group.

Offensive Line

As a group they didn’t allow any sacks on the day, they also made one penalty that I can find (a false start). In terms of getting the run going, BC ran the ball 56 times for 318 yards.

The Front Seven

The defensive line and linebackers combined for five sacks in the game. They allowed 99 yards on the ground to the Seahawks including a 47 touchdown run to Alex Thompson.

Secondary

No interceptions forced by this crew this week. They held the Seahawks to 62 yards through the air, as the QB Alex Thompson went 13-25. They got nailed for one pass interfence call as well.

Special Teams

Mike Knoll was a perfect 6/6 on extra points this week. Tyler Rouse ripped a 54 yard punt return and a 44 yard kick return. Knoll also averaged just over 30 yards a punt during the game. There were no field goals attempted during the game

Coaching

The Eagles scored 42 points, with four touchdowns on the ground and two in the air. Addazio said after the game that he wanted to see the offensive line play better, hence the emphasis on the run.
