McKenzie Meehan Sets Program Scoring Record in Women's Soccer Win

The Eagles defeated Pitt 3-0

Boston College women's soccer is 1-1 in the ACC and 9-1-1 overall following a win over Pitt last night. The game marked BC's 6th shutout this season. The Eagles outshout Pitt 19-7.

BC's first goal came just 4 and a half minutes into the game. Hayley Dowd took a header off of Samantha Hiatt's free kick and put the ball into the net. This was Dowd's 6th goal of the season.

The Eagles didn't score again until the 52 minute mark, when Jenna Bike beat the keeper in the box. She took a cross pass from Lauren Berman to get the goal. Berman and Bike have both been important factors for the Eagles in their wins.

BC's final goal was a header by McKenzie Meehan, assisted by Gaby Carreiro and Carly Leipzig. Meehan's goal, scored at 83:10, broke the team's scoring record. Meehan (who held the record for goals before this season even started) is now BC women's soccer's all time leading scorer with 118 points.

The Eagles now head to Louisville, where they will play at 1 PM on Sunday. The game can be watched for free online.
