Vegas has inched slightly toward Boston College over the course of this week, with BC sitting as six-point underdogs to Virginia Tech on the verge of tomorrow’s ACC clash.
VegasInsider says the opening line was Virginia Tech -8, though on most books we saw, the Hokies were favored by 6.5 as the week began. The movement has been in BC’s direction, perhaps as people reviewing the game take a look at how BC’s defense has kept ACC games incredibly tight even over the course of this losing streak.
The over/under is set at 41.5 after opening at 42.5; once again this seems pretty high. Given the way BC’s games have gone over the past couple of seasons, something like 21-17 to one team or the other feels like a score you might see at the high end.
In BC’s last 14 games, only two of them would have topped an over/under of 42.5 - and one of them was the Howard game. The other was BC’s loss at Clemson last year.
If the Eagles’ defense continues to look as stout as they did last season, BC +6 and the under look like pretty solid selections.
